AGM Theater Company, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit Theater formed in September 2017, based in Harlem, for the purpose of telling the extraordinary stories of African Americans by producing professional theater that is educational, inspiring, and entertaining.
Our most recent activities include virtual productions of: “I Remember Harlem When”, “Ain’t I A Woman . . . Black Women Speaking Truth to Power” and “We Write Truth, Gospel and Oftentimes Swing the Blues”.
“I Remember Harlem When” featured African American Writers sharing their stories about Harlem - from the Harlem “Lifers” to the Harlem “Migrators”, from the “Renaissance” to “Protests”, the “Hip Hop Era”, “New Jack Swing” and the “Gentrification” of Harlem. This show included Writers and Actors and featured an original musical score by our resident Music Director, Jerome Brooks.
“Ain’t I A Woman . . .Black Women Speaking Truth To Power” featured the extraordinary works of Beautiful, Strong Black Women celebrating “International Women’s Month” and keeping with our Mission Statement this show featured an ensemble of female writers, actors, technical staff, and director. In addition, our production team of producers, production manager, and marketing director, were composed of all women as well.
“We Write Truth, Gospel and Oftentimes Swing the Blues” - An afternoon of original poetry and short stories - celebrating the lives of Black Men. This show provided an opportunity for Black men to tell their extraordinary stories.
AGM Theater Company remains committed to “Telling Our Stories” and celebrating the magnificent history and culture of African Americans.
